Atom - East London

Atom is the first DetermiNation Champion! He is making his way around the country and is available for visits, if you are interested, please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Atom arrived in March 2010 and was named by children from Brighton. The little Champions have sent him on journeys, like obstacle courses with some big questions to find answers to.

The first calling came from Prince Sunflower who's in Brighton. Sunflower has discovered that all the people he meets are very concerned about the future of the world, most particularly, in terms of what they are doing to their own planet. They want to do something about this and make their city a more eco-friendly place so they can set the example. Brook from Sussex came as well, and Atom taught them how to keep the beach tidy.

He has also been to Chatham looking for Sparky. He didn’t find him though, because he was probably busy winning some race or other. Sparky’s the sporty one, he likes to get involved in everything, and most of all he wants other people to join in with his health and fitness campaign. Atom is going to help him out.

Atom got a call from Chaz, to go to London. Chaz has met so many people from around the world in her place East London. She wanted to give Atom a little glimpse of what’s going on for her. Well, Atom could clearly see the difference between here and Brighton, everyone is speaking in different languages and have all got completely different views of the world.

He has also been called to Comberton to meet Lola and take part in the Open Weekend, to Nottingham to meet Star Child, and to Bexleyheath to meet Bex.

On 9 July 2010, Atom joined the local children and adults for a big day out in Harwich. More than 1000 children and adults gathered in Harwich for the parade. They marched their way through the town from and later returned to Cliff Park, showing off their bright and homemade costumes. Of course Atom did not miss such a wonderful event!

in August 2010, Atom and Star Child joined the Big Walk in Notthingham and visited Children’s and Family Centres across the city, helpied children make masks. Children from eight centres said say goodbye to Atom in a special send off parade in Market Square 1pm – 3pm on Friday 13th August. (The Big Walk is a collaboration City Arts, Nottingham City Council and Kinetika)
