The champion was created by students from the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate students from Puppetry, Theatre Practice, Performance Arts and Theatre in Education created Champions who were part of the opening celebrations at the annual International Student Puppet Festival, which was held in the spring at the Central School of Speech and Drama. The Champions welcomed international students and representatives of UK puppetry organisations. Students are currently preparing a street performance to take to the Tallinn Puppetry Festival in Estonia and it is hoped that work emerging from this year's residency will be included.
